Do you not hear the law?

-

Galatians 4:21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?

The Apostle Paul asks the question – tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the Law? Don’t you understand what the Law is all about? If we want to be under the Law, it is obvious that we have not heard the Law. How can we know if we are still under the Law?

If we believe that God is still angry with us, then we are still under the Law. If we believe that we can do something good to gain God’s favor, or something bad to lose it, we are still under the Law. If we believe we can lose our salvation, we are still under the Law. If we believe that the pure grace of God is a license to sin, we are still under the Law. If we mix the Law with the grace of God believing that we must live by the ten commandments, rules and regulations, we still live under the Law. And if we still desire to be under the Law, we haven’t heard the Law.

If we have not heard the Law, we have not heard Christ.

How many words did Christ say to prove that He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world? How many works did He do to prove that yes, indeed, He was sent from the Father? John 21:25 says:

“And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.” How can we ignore the works of Jesus, which were always done to deliver the oppressed of the devil? The works that Christ did were completely contrary to what the religious leaders of His day allowed.

However, the works that Jesus did to deliver the broken hearted, were so innumerable that if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. So many were the works of grace, love, forgiveness, and mercy which the Lord Jesus did, that not even the whole world could contain the books that would be written of the works He did. And He did all of this to deliver us from the curse of the Law.
