9th annual SMMC Back to School Health Splash set for Thursday
School registration has been taking place across Howard County this past week, and families are gearing up for the new year. To help ensure students are prepared with school supplies and health information for a healthy new year, Scenic Mountain Medical Center is hosting the Ninth Annual Back to School Health Splash this Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
“Getting ready to go back to school can be stressful any year, but we hope with the support offered through this annual event, we can help alleviate some of that stress. We want to make sure Howard County youth are prepared for another semester of learning, without having to worry about whether they have the supplies they will be needing,” April Arms, Event Organizer and Scenic Mountain Medical Center Executive Administrator, said.
This event will assist Howard County children with school supplies as they to head back to classes. The event is open for children and their families in grades K-12 who reside in Big Spring, Coahoma and Forsan.
There will be 400 backpacks available on a first-come, firstserved basis. The child must be present to receive the backpack and school supplies. There will also be 25 local organizations handing out school supplies at the event. Scenic Mountain Medical Group (SMMG) pediatricians and hospital staff will be at the event to meet community members and answer any questions.
“We appreciate all the local individuals, organizations and businesses who partner with us to help provide a great start to the new school year,” Arms said.
