Benito ”Benny” Marquez, of Big Spring died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021. Memorial service will be Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at 5 p.m. at Myers & Smith Chapel. Following the service family will receive friends until 9 p.m.

Benito was born April 15, 1933, in Big Spring, Texas, to Thomas and Pilar Marquez. He married Rosa Moreno on Nov. 8, 1948. He was a lifelong resident of Big Spring. He owned and operated Marquez Fence Company until his retirement in 2007. He was an avid golfer but even a bigger baseball fan. His team being the Texas Rangers. He played, coached, and managed for the Semi-Pro Baseball League Big Spring Cardinals.

Benito is survived by two sons; Jimmy Marquez and wife Melinda of Big Spring, Harry Marquez, and wife Shelly of Big Spring, three daughters; Katy Gonzales and husband Tino, Rosemary Yanez and husband Gil of San Antonio, Melinda Machado of Big Spring, one brother; Manuel Marquez of Florida, 1 sister; Elizama Cuellar of Plano, 16 grandchild­ren, and 20 great grandchild­ren

In addition to Benito’s parents, he preceded in death by his parents, wife Rosa Marquez, two sons: Benito Marquez Jr., Jerry Marquez, one daughter; Cindy Marquez Machado, four brothers; Thomas Marquez Jr., David Marquez, Saul Marquez, Sammy Marquez, and 1 sister; Maria Marquez Lara.
