Early voting is now underway at the Howard County Courthouse
Early voting got underway Monday on State constitutional amendments, as well as the Big Spring Mayoral race and Big Spring school board race.
Locally, incumbent Big Spring Mayor Shannon Thomason faces a challenge from former 118th District Court Judge Robert H. Moore for the city's top elected position; while Bryan Stokes and Krystal Borggren are both seeking the District 6 school board seat.
In Coahoma, challenger Jackie Mulkey and incumbents Kenni Kay Wright and Brandon Atkins are vying for two seats on the Coahoma ISD school board.
Early voting will run the rest of this week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, as well as May 2 and 3 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Howard County Courthouse.
Election day is Saturday, May 7, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. On election day, local voters may vote at any of the county's four polling places, regardless of where they live in the county:
• Ryan Hall/St. Thomas Church, 605 N. Main St.
• First Baptist Church, 705 W. FM 700
• Dorothy Garrett Coliseum, 1001 Birdwell Lane
• Coahoma Community Center, 306 North Ave. in Coahoma.
Voter should bring one of the following forms of photo ID: Texas Driver's License, Texas Election Certificate, Texas Personal Identification Card, Texas Handgun License, U.S. Military ID Card, U.S. Citizenship Certificate, or U.S. Passport.
Alternatively, voters may present one of the following types of ID, and fill out a brief “Reasonable Impediment Declaration” form: copy or original of a government document that shows the voter's name and address, including a voter registration certificate; copy or original of a current utility bill; copy or original of a bank statement; copy or original of a government check; copy or original of a paycheck; or copy or original of a certified domestic birth certificate from a U.S. state or territory or a document confirming birth admissible in a court of law which establishes the voter's identity (which may include a foreign birth certificate).
