Lady Buffs clinch District title 15-5 vs Tahoka
The Forsan Lady Buffs clinched the District Champion title, after facing off against the Tahoka Lady Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon with a final score of 15-5. The Lady Buffs stepped onto the field early Saturday afternoon looking for a win and through their determination and teamwork, that W was theirs.
The Tahoka Lady Bulldogs were the first ones to put points on the board, but they wouldn't remain in control for long. When the third inning swept in, the Lady Buffs took the momentum and ran with it. Emma Buske singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Noelani Rodriguez induced Hailey Beall to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, K'Leigh Williams singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Lindsey Morin homered on a 0-2 count, scoring three runs. At the end of the third inning, the Lady Buffs had put six runs on the board.
The Lady Buffs had Aubrie Smith in the pitcher's circle. For the day, Smith surrendered eight hits, but Tahoka only gained five runs in the seven innings, with a total of nine striking out and one walk.
In addition to the victory, there were several Lady Buffs who were able to celebrate a home run. Aubrie Smith not only played an important role on the pitcher's mound, but also in the batting box as she hit two deep, one in the second and the other in the fourth inning. Kelcey Zubiate claimed her homer in the seventh inning; Lindsey Morin claimed hers in the third inning; Reagan Phillips had a four bagger in the seventh inning.
Lady Buffs's teamwork paid off and was reflected in the 16 hits that were racked up in the game: Buske, Lybertee Rodriquez, Smith, Zubiate, and Williams all managed multiple hits for the Lady Buffs.
