Plans in place for 2022 Big Spring High School Homecoming

- By ROGER CLINE Managing Editor

The Big Spring Steers returned to the hallowed halls of Big Spring High School this week, and Homecoming plans are already in place.

Homecoming 2022 is September 9, but there are a lot of activities coming up before then, according to a schedule released by the BSHS Student Council.

Of course, students will be dressing up during the Labor Day shortened week prior to the big game. This year, students will be picking sides in the “Knockout the Competition” event. Each dress-up day will feature two opposing sides of the cultural divide for students to choose from. On Tuesday, Sept. 6, students will choose sides in the classic “Nerd” vs. “Jock” split. On Wednesday, Sept. 7, the clash will be between “Movies” and “T.V.” On Thursday, Sept. 8, students – and likely teachers and staff as well – will answer the age-old question “Fancy?” or “Casual?” O n Homecoming Day, Sept. 9, Big Spring High School will have an easy decision: They're being asked to choose between “Steers” and their Homecoming game opponents, the “Loboes.”

Today is the final day for clubs and organizations to turn in their Homecoming Nominees – the deadline was at 9 a.m. Voting for Homecoming finalists will be on Sept. 1, and the Homecoming court will be announced at the Pep Rally Sept. 2. Also on Sept. 2, is the deadline (4 p.m.) to register a float for the Homecoming Parade.

Parade packet pickups will be Sept. 6 and 7 in the Main Office. The Homecoming King/Queen election will be Thursday, Sept. 8, and the Homecoming Bonfire for Juniors and Seniors only will be at 8 p.m. at the Anderson school campus.
