Big Spring's 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams also competed very well against bigger 5A and 6A schools. Big Spring's 4x100 meter relay team finished seventh overall with a time of 44.85. The Steers 4x400 meter relay squad also finished seventh with a time of 3:40.42.
The Big Spring junior varsity team finished sixth overall at the meet with a team total of 66 points. Big Spring's Jordan Mitchell had a big day for himself as he finished second overall in the JV boys 800 meter race. Mitchell ran a personal best of 2:09.44. Junior Evan Medrano finished behind Mitchell in third with a time of 2:12.51.
Medrano also competed in the JV boys 3200 meter race where he also finished third with a time of 11:31.20. Big Spring's Michael Perez finished second in the JV boys 1600 meter race with a personal best of 5:11.69.
Big Spring's Zachary Connor finished third in the JV boys pole vault event with a vault of 7'6'' while fellow teammate Kavien Ford finished third in the JV boys long jump event with a jump of 18' 11.75''
The Steers will compete at home this Friday as they get set to host the Big Spring Invitational at Blankenship field. The meet will also recognize its seniors for senior night.
