Jack C. Taylor, born May 25, 1930, passed away peacefully at home May 14, 2023, surrounded by family.

Jack was a long-time resident of Big Spring, having moved here with his pregnant wife and two sons from Abilene in 1960. He went on to bless many of Big Spring's residents with his cooking in a few cafes before opening Jack & Mattie's on 3rd St. After retiring, he could often be found amongst family, playing with grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren, spending time at the fish fries at the American Legion, or attending church at Crossroads Baptist.

He is survived by three children, Tommy Lasater, Wesley Taylor, and Marie Dunnam; six grandchild­ren, Belinda Hall, Selena Taylor, Sean Dunnam, Annaliese Dunnam-Gordon, Shaina Dunnam and Victoria Dunnam; and six great-grandchild­ren.

Preceded in death by his wife Mattie Taylor; his son Jack Taylor Jr.; and his three siblings.

Jack was Army Reservist for eight years after serving 2 and a half years stateside during the Korean war, the family is immensely grateful for the Veterans Administra­tion's health care services.

Pallbearer­s: Wesley Taylor, Sean Dunnam, Shawn Gordon, Scott Taylor, Eddie Taylor, David Wood. In lieu of any flower arrangemen­ts, please donate to the local Dementia/Alzheimer's organizati­on or American Legion Post 506.

Services to be held Wednesday, May 17, at the following locations -Myers & Smith: Visitation 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral 11 a.m. Mount Olive Cemetery: Military graveside service immediatel­y following funeral service.
