Della Kirkland Cooper

Della Kirkland Cooper, 89, of Odessa, formerly of Big Spring, died Friday, May 26, 2023 in Odessa. The family will receive friends at Myers & Smith Funeral Home, 301 E. 24th St., Big Spring, Wednesday, May 31, from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. at Trinity Memorial Park's Peace Chapel.

Della was born Feb. 2, 1934 in Beebe, Ark., to Cecil and Mabel Kirkland. She moved to Big Spring at the age of 3 and was raised and educated there. She married Charles Cooper July 2, 1949 in Big Spring. They celebrated their 65th anniversary before he preceded her in death Jan. 29, 2015. She was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church, Odessa.

Della is survived by her son, Terry Cooper and wife Linda; her daughter, Cecilia Rice and husband Collins; granddaughter, Chelsea Rice; granddaughter Kristen Dunnam and husband Matt; their children, Chase and Violet; grandson, Clint Rice and wife Tiffany; and their children, Cambri Elle and Crawford Charles; step-granddaughter, Erin Scarpinato and husband Nick; their children, Noel, Jazzy, Caleb, and Kiara.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, Ben Kirkland and Joe Kirkland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Associaition, 55 W.
