First Presbyteri­an Church

Worship services for June 4 will begin at 10:50 a.m. in the Sanctuary at 8th and Runnels. Organist/Music Director Gabe Martinez will be leading music this week. This Sunday we celebrate Pentecost. The Rev. Allen Cross will be preaching a sermon entitled: All in God. God in All. Scripture readings for this Sunday are Psalm 8; Genesis 1:1-5; 2 Corinthian­s 13:5-14.

The Adult Sunday School Discovery class is studying Adam Hamilton’s “Luke- Jesus and the Outsiders, Outcasts, and Outlaws.” This Hamilton work discusses Luke’s depiction of Jesus’ interest in the “least of these.” Hamilton believes this perspectiv­e can change your life.

The Women’s Bible Study meets in the church library at 10 a.m. and the “History Nerds” video series meets in the theater room at noon. The history series is currently studying the excesses of corporate enterprise in America during the Gilded Age (18651900) and the reforming responses of the Progressiv­e Era (1900-1920). The Guthrie Scholars class on Christian theology takes place at 6:00 p.m. on Mondays discussing Dr. Shirley Guthrie’s book Christian Doctrine. These classes are open to anyone in the community.

Wednesday, June 7-Join us for our MDWK service. We offer classes for all ages at 7 p.m.. Adults meet in the Main Sanctuary. Youth: High School age meet in ARC and Junior High age meet in youth sanctuary. Children’s church is divided into two locations with age specific classes: Kovantvill­e (1st and 2nd grade)( 3rd and 4th grade) (5th and 6th grade). Tiny Land (Newborn- 23 months) (2 and 3 y.o.)(4 y.o.Kindergart­en).

Saturday, June 10-Join Singles and Young Adults Ministry from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. ARC (Academic Resource Center) located at 1206 Owens (the building in the back of CCC). as we promote and provide opportunit­ies for young adults and singles to grow and live in Christ through a balance of worship, witness, service, and fellowship.
