Bulldogs end season with 4-1 win over Grape Creek Senior Billy Bailey records 207th career strikeout

GRAPE CREEK, TX – Coahoma's final game of the season was a special one for two reasons. For one, the Bulldogs ended their season on a high note beating the Eagles 4-1 on the road. The second, is that one of Coahoma's seniors made history in his last high school game ever.

Coahoma's Billy Bailey pitched an impressive game Tuesday afternoon, one that saw the senior throw for all seven innings. Bailey gave up just two hits for one run while walking four and striking out an impressive 12 batters at the plate.

Bailey's twelve strikeouts propelled the senior pitcher past the 200-career strikeout mark finishing his high school career with a total of 207 career strikeouts.

Grape Creek jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the first inning before the Bulldogs tied it up in the top of the second. With the bases loaded, Grape Creek would walk Bryce Davis advancing Wyatt Oden home for the run.

Coahoma would extend it's lead over the course of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings thanks to Coahoma's Jesse Hernandez and Bailey. Grape Creek started the seventh down two outs but caught a break after Bailey hit a batter and walked another.

Bailey was able to regroup and record his twelfth strikeout to end the game and secure the win for the Bulldogs.

In addition to his performanc­e on the mound, Bailey finished the game going 2-for-4 at the plate with a one run scored. Coahoma's Braiden Boaz led the Bulldogs at the plate going 2-for-3 with one run scored and an RBI.

Josiah Patton also went 2-for-4 at the plate, while Davis and Hernandez recorded an RBI each.

Grape Creek's Colby Wallace recorded the loss for the Eagles throwing for six and two-third innings. Wallace gave up 11 hits for four runs while walking three and striking out seven.

With the win the Bulldogs finished the season with an 8-14-2 overall record and 5-9 mark in district play.
