Eight Big Spring High School student-athletes sign letters of intent

Eight Big Spring High School student-athletes are set to continue both their academic and athletic careers this fall after signing their letters of intent to their respective colleges this fall.

Big Spring High School Athletic Director, Cannon McWilliams, opened the ceremony stating that this is the most student-athletes they have had sign all at once and it's always exciting to have kids from our school move on to the next level.

“This is exciting for us and these students. Obviously these kids are good at the what they do that's why they're sitting up here today but another reason is that all of these kids also took care of business in the classroom as well.” McWilliams stated.

The eight student-athletes that signed their letters of intent were: Aliza New, a student trainer at BSHS, who will be continuing with Sports Medicine at Howard College Campus in Big Spring.

Big Spring's Cambree Wright, a varsity cheerleade­r for the Steer, will cheer next year at the University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa, TX. Angelina Rivera a member of the Big Spring High School dance team will continue with dance at Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX.

Reece Harris, a standout golfer for the Steers varsity golf team, will continue to play golf at Ranger College in Ranger, TX this fall. Big Spring's Aracelee Alvarado will continue to compete in track and field and cross country next fall where she will attend North American University in Stafford, TX.

Marcos Paredez, a 4-year starting catcher on the Steers varsity baseball team, will play baseball for Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesvil­le, OK. Two other Steer golfer's, Christian Martinez and Elijah Gonzales will also continue their golf careers at University of the Southwest in Hobbs, NM.
