Last year’s Backyard Photo Contest winner shares the story behind his stunning shot.

With my Nikon D4S, I captured this image of a hungry juvenile and adult eastern bluebird in my backyard. The adults were feeding when the young one loudly reminded them it could not fend for itself yet. As young bluebirds approach adulthood, the speckled pattern on their breast disappears and becomes a warm red-brown. I love the wing placement on the adult in this image. And you can’t beat the interaction between the two birds.
