Why readers love autumn
Building bonfires on chilly autumn nights. The magic of the season pervades all of my senses with the smell of woodsmoke, the sound of crisp leaves and the taste of hot spiced cider—all enjoyed while I’m wrapped in a warm blanket.

I love the warm autumn colors and the way the leaves fall like snow during a breeze. Deborah Steenbakker GRAND MARAIS, MINNESOTA
My favorite time to be in the woods is a brisk sunny morning when the trees are in full fall color. The sunlight brightens the hues. Darrell Corsi WALES, MICHIGAN It’s a time to take things down, clean out nest boxes, and prep feeders and suet cages. The cold air coming in always smells fresh, even more so with the first snowfall. Debra Steinert NORTH COLLINS, NEW YORK
I look forward to the arrival of goldencrowned sparrows. These friendly birds spend the winter in my backyard. I love their short and sweet whistled song and watching them go crazy for peanuts!
