My birding buddies

and I decided to go looking for white-tailed ptarmigans. It was snowing, blowing and cold when we reached our destination, but we geared up and trekked around the area to look for them. After a while we were considering giving up—but then we saw several within a stone’s throw of the parking lot. They were life birds for our whole group.
