Q What kind of bird is this? I saw it in Gail Jakubiak HUDSON, FLORIDA a swampy area.
Kenn and Kimberly: Mainly a winter visitor in Florida, this yellow-rumped warbler arrives in late fall and leaves in early spring. In this pose, most of its key field marks are hidden, including a yellow patch at each side of the chest and its trademark yellow rump patch. But it’s recognizable by the contrast of its brown cheek patch, white throat and striped chest. While many warblers leave the U.S. to fly deep into the tropics in winter, yellow-rumped warblers can thrive in cold weather by eating berries.
