ABOUT AUDUBON Why you should know this renowned birder.
John James Audubon lived in Henderson, Kentucky, for about a decade. While there, he painted and studied the local birds, and began collecting materials for his most famous work, The Birds of America. The four-volume set, first published between 1827 and 1838, contains 435 life-size watercolor paintings of North American birds. Audubon’s work set a new standard for wildlife artists.
