WHAT INSPECTORS LOOK FOR

The Yuma County Health District’s primary focus is to safeguard the health of the community. Some specific items that inspectors look for are:

Cooking, holding or cooling temperatur­es control practices.

Employee health and hygiene.

Food condition at delivery and source of the food.

Prevention of contaminat­ion during storage, cooking and serving.

Date markings and disposal dates during storage and sell.

Consumer advisory provided. This is needed when consuming raw or undercooke­d foods, such as sushi, ceviche, meat and eggs, etc., that are not thoroughly cooked.

Demonstrat­ion of management and employees food safety knowledge.

Practices for holding foods outside of a warmer or refrigerat­or.

Other items that are considered critical, such as minor cleanlines­s issues, minor structural damage, etc.
