C. If your boat was shrinkwrap­ped last fall, carefully cut or untie the perimeter rope to relax the cover, then, only if necessary, carefully make any additional needed strategic cuts to remove the cover, being mindful of the gelcoat and upholstery underneath.

F. Most PFDs don’t have expiration dates. If, however, there is a manufactur­e date legible, and the PFD is more than 5 years old, it may be time for a new one.

F. While C may seem redundant, you’d be surprised at how many trailers don’t fit the boat properly.

D. Reinstalli­ng a fitting that’s been in service for years is a waste of time; best to use a new fitting while you’re at it.

E. Painting anodes is always a no-no because it inhibits their ability to fight corrosion.
