Q: Dear Doc, I have been trying to track down a drain on the house battery on my 2008 Pursuit 285 OS. I keep the boat in a dry stack, so it’s generally not connected to shore power and consequently the charger. The battery is new and connected to a cutoff switch, and there are no direct loads on the battery. I assume that there is a direct connection for the bilge pumps near the junction box with the battery switches. The only anomaly I notice is that sometimes the AM/FM radio turns on when the ignition key is turned on even though it was turned off when the boat was put away. I know there is generally a direct connection for the radio to maintain the memory, but I assume that it is connected to one of the engine batteries. Where is the best place to start looking?
