PROTECTION PROBLEM

Q: Dear Mick, I never removed the manufacturer’s film from the screen of my Clarion CMD6 stereo delivered with my 2011 Edgewater 245CX. The film has dried and cracked, and is obstructing the view of the display screen. I’ve tried to pick it off piece by piece, but I’m concerned about scratching the screen. Any suggestions on how to remove the film without destroying the screen? Many thanks. Michael Hipps Via email

A: Hi Michael. I admit I have little experience dealing with this problem. I spoke with some electronics pros, and they all agreed that the best bet would be to repeatedly apply warm, soapy water with a soft rag until the film falls off. Don’t scrub hard; use warm water, not hot water, and exercise patience. Good luck.
