Suzuki’s compact design, refined gear case and 2-to-1 gear ratio offer impressive torque and top speed. Its fuel burn based on ICOMIA fuel standards is one of the lowest across the range, and the maintenance schedule for the first 400 hours one of the lightest in the class. Lean burn technology and variable valve timing improve the hole shot and provide massive torque throughout the power range. Suzuki outboards are compact for their horsepower and provide a good horsepower-to-weight ratio.

Oil and gear-case lube changes, as well as spark-plug changes, are easy enough for a DIY mechanic to do, shaving those costs further. Many mechanics forgo the valve inspection at 300 hours because track records for the majority of motors seldom require adjustment once the valves are exposed.
