Q: Hi Doc. Do you have a quick fix for a torn zipper in my boat’s canvas drop curtain? I cannot sew.

A: You could try fabric glue and Velcro strips, or install some snaps on straps to span the gap. But any botch in the job is likely to make your drop curtain unrepairable. This might be a case where it pays to take it to a pro. Or maybe it’s an opportunity to learn to sew. Only you can say for sure.
