WHY: I use this app for one specific reason: Lightning on the water scares the youknow-what out of me. So when I hear distant rumbles from the weather, I pop open this app to see exactly how close lightning is to my vicinity. This app monitors lightning strikes around the world in near real time, so it provides a much better sense of how close you are to a storm than counting off “one Mississippi…” between the flash and the boom.

WHY NOT: It has radar but is not great for forecasting.
