EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR ANCHOR LINE

- —Jim Hendricks

If your anchor line has started to wear and fray above the chain from chafing on the lake bottom or ocean floor, disconnect the chain, and pull the rope out of the anchor locker and reverse it. This gives you fresh, new-looking line where it counts, and places the worn section at the bottom of the locker where it’s less likely to be utilized, extending the life of your anchor line. You will need to create a new eye splice or rope-to-chain splice if using a windlass. To learn how, visit boatingmag.com/how-to-make-rope-to-chain-splice.
