MUDDTRAX MTX-R

-

If you know what muskeg is, the MuddTrax MTX-R (litetrax.com) might be just the right vehicle for you.

The MuddTrax is built by a company from Utah called LiteTrax, which originally made all-terrain track-driven vehicles for the snowy mountains of the state. From that, LiteTrax developed the MuddTrax system, which is unique because it can handle all applications, be it snow, swamp, mud or, yes, muskeg.

Muskeg is the natural phenomenon that happens when a shallow body of water gets filled in by debris and soil, creating a boggy terrain with water underneath it. It’s the type of terrain that can sink a typical off-road vehicle. But the MuddTrax is capable of floating atop that water and moving through it via the treads. (The MTX-C, pictured below, is the commercial version, slightly longer with a bigger engine.) The 38 hp Kohler gas engine provides the necessary torque to navigate a 30-degree slope. On land, the MuddTrax tops out at 16 mph on a flat run. On the water, it only does 2 mph, enough to propel you through the muck to solid land. While capable of it, the MuddTrax is not designed to go boating across the lake. It’s designed for when you need to cross a creek, small pond or bog. You can even put an electric trolling motor or small outboard on it.

The MuddTrax shines in snowy or swampy regions. Ice fishing or gator hunting? The MuddTrax MTX-R does the job.
