NO GREASE!

- —Kevin Falvey

Despite the common practice, boaters should not cover battery terminals in grease. The intention of the grease coating is corrosion control, but grease is actually a weak insulator that diminishes conductivity. The best practice is to clean your terminals well using a paste made from baking soda and water, replace the lugs, retighten the nuts, and then apply a thin film on top of it all.
