’TOON SUPPORT
Q:
I own a 6,000-pound ShoreStation vertical lift, currently set up with one center bunk for a V-hull boat. My new boat is a Crest Continental tri-toon. I live in the Midwest and plan on leaving the boat on the lift year-around with shrink-wrap for winter protection. Should I convert to a triple-bunk setup, or would two bunks supporting the outer ’toons be adequate to support the boat without any possible sag or frame damage? Thank you.

A:
You will need support under all three pontoons or else, sooner or later, your boat’s frame will likely sag or deform. Improper support in storage damages many boats of all types.
