FLOODING/SWAMPING

-

Swamped means filled with water by any cause, but the boat retains sufficient buoyancy to remain on the surface. It can occur due to busted fittings, stuffing the bow into wave, and even chopping the throttle and being overtaken by one’s own wake. Operate carefully, and regularly maintain and inspect through-hull fittings and fasteners.
