NEW FURUNO DOME RADAR
For 2022, Furuno is adding a new model to its NXT radar series. The DRS2DNXT features a 19-inch radome and is compatible with the brand’s popular NavNet TZtouch,
TZT2 or TZT3 MFDs.
The system boasts the same features and modes as the 24-inch NXT, including solid-state Doppler technology known as Target Analyzer, which shifts returns to red when an object approaches your vessel at a speed of 3 knots or faster independently of your own ship’s speed, alerting the captain of a possible collision. With a 48-nauticalmile range, the DRS2DNXT also offers RezBoost. A smaller antenna creates a wider beam width, which might display far-off targets as elongated echoes. RezBoost sharpens the target returns, achieving the equivalent resolution of a larger antenna array.
The new radar features a bird mode to automatically adjust gain and clutter to detect flocks of birds feeding on baitfish.
Other advanced features include
FTT (Fast Target Tracking), rain mode to filter rain clutter, and dual-range capability. Pricing was unavailable at press time; furunousa.com.
