For Kids
Extreme Family Fun
Extremes are sometimes a good thing. Testing the limits is often a talent that kids possess. Most of the time a parent’s role is to reel kids in from their extreme tests, but then there are times that joining in on some extreme experiences creates a perfect family fun memory.
GET EXTREMELY MESSY
Take a clay pottery class with your kids. Learning a new art together can show that even parents make a mess when they try something new. The Open Studio in Englewood offers classes for all ages.
Sign up as a team for a Color Run. This “happiest 5K on the plan- et” is perfect for families because it is more about the memories you make than your speed. The Color Run is an untimed event in which thousands of participants, or “Color Runners,” are doused from head to toe with different colored powders at each kilometer.
TAKE AN EXTREME RISK
Jumping extremely high and trying extreme flips into Styrofoam at SkyZone is guaranteed to get the family laughing together.
Spend a day at an action park. The Extreme Action Park in Fort Lauderdale is the perfect place for the family to max out at an e xtreme go-cart speed or compete on the
extreme indoor ropes course.
Test your fear of heights together at TreeUmph. Exploring high in the trees, you will make unique memories with your family, while challenging yourself and having fun in ways you never thought possible.
HAVE AN EXTREME ENERGY DRAIN
Head to the beach and spend an hour jumping waves together. This is a cool way to enjoy the water, and it’s a good way to use up excess energy.
Take your bikes for a long ride around your neighborhood, or even explore a new area by bike. Many playgrounds and parks have wide areas of pavement or trails where your family can easily pedal for hours.
Find a creek or some calm water to go stand-up paddleboarding. Within an hour the entire family will have worked their muscles to an extreme while pushing through the water and maintaining balance at the same time.
