Exotic Animals

ReptiDay comes to Fort Myers

-

If you’re not a dog or cat person, maybe it’s because you fancy something more exotic—with

bigger claws or green and slimy skin. If so, then ReptiDay is the event for you.

It takes place at the Crowne Plaza Fort Myers at Bell Tower Shops on Saturday, March 30, with early admission starting at 9:30 a.m. ReptiDay is a one-day version of the well-known Repticon Show, which is recognized as a leader in hosting reptile and exotic expos throughout the United States.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the Sunshine State is home to 142 native and 56 non-native reptile and amphibian species. And most of us probably are not able to list very many of them without doing some research.

Native and non-native reptile and amphibian species may possibly live in our backyards, on our trees or in nearby nature preserves. Yet wherever they may be, an event such as ReptiDay is one way to bring them to our attention in a safe and fun environment.

ReptiDay attendees—of all ages— will have the opportunity to learn about exotic animals from breeders in a fun and interactive way. In addition, experts will hold seminars on animalrelated topics.

Visitors are able to see and touch many of these very different and unusual animals. Some people might be afraid of certain animals and ReptiDay enables those people, through education, to face their fears and anxiety and become more comfortable with the reptiles.

Attendees are welcome to purchase a new family pet if one of the hundreds of reptiles, amphibians or invertebrates fits the bill. Additional merchandise such as cages, supplies and special food— because some of the creatures need more than regular pet food—will also be available for sale.

Raffles will be held frequently at the event, offering the opportunity to win interesting prizes. For more information, visit repticon.com/florida/ reptiday-ft-myers/.
