Bonnie Jo Thomas Vinyard, 86, of Amarillo, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Friday at Llano Cemetery, with Chaplain Byron Williamson officiatin­g. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Bonnie was born April 18, 1935 outside Sulfur Springs, Texas to W.B. and Tina Thomas. She married Rev. Birdie Jones in 1955. Bonnie became active in the many churches that Birdie pastored. She served as church secretary at Summit Baptist Church in Amarillo. They served at Dorchestor Baptist Church, Summit Baptist Church, Garner Baptist Church, Tom Bean Baptist Church in Tom Bean, Texas, Custer Ave. Baptist Church in Oklahoma, First Baptist Church of Wynoka, Oklahoma, Westview Baptist Church in Slaton, and First Baptist Church in Gunter, and Calvary Baptist Church in Borger. Birdie passed away in 1983. Bonnie married Gerald Vinyard in 1990. Bonnie was a faithful servant of the Lord, and looked forward to sharing about Christ at every opportunit­y that she could. She stayed involved in church for as long as her health allowed. She enjoyed playing games, such as dominoes and cards. Bonnie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Birdie Leon Jones in 1983; her second husband Gerald Vinyard in 2020; and infant son, Douglas Leon Thomas; three brothers, Jerry Thomas, Clifford Thomas, and Bill Thomas; and a sister, Joyce Atler.

Survivors include her son, Ron Jones and wife Angela of Lubbock; her daughter, Becky Jones of Lubbock; two brothers, Marshall Thomas of Longview, TX, and Charles Thomas and wife Wanda of Grand Prairie, TX; six grandchild­ren; and 15 great-grandchild­ren.
