Borger City Council approves interlocal agreement with PRPC
The Borger City Council met on Tuesday at Borger City Hall. Attending Tuesday’s meeting were council members Kim Perez, Pete Loftis, and Milton Ooley. Council members absent were Karen Felker and Marvin “Bubba” Dickson. Also in attendance was Borger City Manager Garrett Spradling.
The meeting started with a City Manager Report from Spradling.
Spradling reported that the City of Borger is still doing well financially. “May did have more expenditures than revenue in general funds, but this is common this time of the year.”
In new business, the council approved an action to grant a utility easement to Southwestern Public Service Company consisting of a 430
square foot tract of land located in Section 22. This area is an area near the Aluminum Dome and the American Legion.
Spradling explained, “We own all the land over there, and the American Legion has a building on some of the land, and that’s how it has been for many years. As part of the Dome Project, we were relocating utilities, mainly to get underground service so that the back alley didn’t have any height restrictions for any event we might be bringing in. It turns out the electrical service to the American Legion ran through some of the poles that we had planned on removing.”
Xcel has set new service for the American Legion, according to Spradling. “This easement will cover the ground that the new poles are in servicing the American Legion. So, they (the American Legion) need the easement, so they have legal right to access their poles. There is no cost associated with this,” said Spradling.
In other news, the council approved an action to approve an interlocal agreement between Panhandle Regional Planning Commission (PRPC) and the City of Borger for 9-1-1 services and equipment. Spradling said, “this partnership goes back to 1989, and we have a good working relationship with PRPC.” The only main change was to add call testing to the interlocal agreement.
The Borger City Council will meet next on July 6 at 6:30 p.m.
