William J. Followwill of Borger, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. Memorial services will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021, at First United Methodist Church. Dear friend and Pastor John Westman will officiate.

William was born on December 15, 1952, in Borger to William M. and Mary Frances (Trammell) Followwill. He married the love of his life Susan Allen on March 14, 1975, at First United Methodist Church in Borger.

William retired from the Borger Fire Department after 32 years of service.

While working at the fire department, William also worked part-time jobs and owned businesses such as Downtown Exxon, Holy Smoke Chimney Sweep Service, and the Gallery Restaurant.

After his retirement from the fire department, he worked for NOV for 10 years and retired again.

After his retirement he enjoyed riding his Harley, camping and fishing with his wife, spending time with his daughters, spoiling his grandchild­ren, and volunteeri­ng his time in the community. Countless Borgans were touched by his selflessne­ss.

His life exemplifie­d the words of John Wesley: “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.” William also was an Eagle Scout.

He will be dearly missed by his wife Susan, to whom he was married for 46 years, his daughters Robyn Line and her husband Steve of Borger, Jaclyn Sanders of Borger, Kim McWilliams of Snyder, and his brother Ray Followwill of Enid, Oklahoma. His grandchild­ren Kristopher Garza, Zane Sanders, Madison Line, Ansley McWilliams, Bailey Line, and William Line also will miss their Granddad immensely.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother William M Followwill and Mary Frances Newcomb, his father- and mother-in-law Jack and Frances Allen, and his sister Glenda Walker Francis.

William chose cremation and his family will spread his remains at a later date at a private gathering. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Burgin Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials made in William’s name to HutchCares Living at Home, PO Box 3031, Borger, TX, 79008.
