Museum to host Borger birthday celebration
Lace-up your dancing shoes and head over to the Hutchinson County Historical Museum on Saturday, June 26, as the museum host’s a swinging good time in recognition of Borger’s 95th Birthday.
The birthday celebration will kick off at the museum at 5:30 p.m. with Smitty’s Brothers BBQ on hand, selling an array of smoked bbq favorites.
The Smitty brothers are Borger natives and graduates of Borger High School.
Their love for smoking meats started with doing food competitions with their dad and bloomed into a full-time business based out of Borger in 2020.
Then at 5:45 p.m., a local artist will make a special presentation to the Hutchinson County Historical Museum.
According to Hutchinson County Museum Director Clay Renick, “local artist Michelle Dubiskas’ rendition of Thomas Hart Benton’s “Boomtown” painting will be dedicated on the northside of the museum.”
Also in attendance will be Borger’s 95th Birthday Grand Marshal Hutchinson County Commissioner Chris Prock to welcome visitors.
From 6 p.m.-8 p.m, a street dance with music provided by The Esquire Jazz Band will be held on Main Street in front of the Hutchinson County Historical Museum (the street will be closed in front of the museum for this event).
The Esquire Jazz Band from Amarillo will play tunes from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s.
Admission to this fun night in Borger is free, and snacks and water bottles will be provided by the Hutchinson County Friends of the Museum. The community is invited to come out and celebrate (bring lawn chairs as seating will not be provided).
The Hutchinson County Historical Museum is located at 618 North Main Street in Borger.
