James “J.R.” Robert Black, 65, passed away Monday, January 2, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Friday, January 6, 2023, at the Canadian River Cowboy Church with Pastor Billy Paul Vinson officiatin­g. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell

Funeral Directors of Fritch. In lieu of flowers his memory may be honored with a gift to the Canadian River Cowboy Church Ranch Bible Camp (CRRBC), PO Box 142, Borger, Texas 79008.

J.R. was born December 31, 1957, in Concordia, Kansas to James Henry Black and Leona Gleason Black. He married Patricia Loucks on June 20, 1975, in Fritch. J.R. had a true cowboy’s heart, he enjoyed farming, ranching and everything that went with it. He was a member of Canadian River Cowboy Church where he led their security team. He owned and operated Norpan Trucking and Welding Company for over 13 years. He and Patricia spent many hours together driving trucks all over. J.R. was extremely knowledgea­ble in all aspects of the trucking industry, in fact it was nothing out of the norm for him to be called to drive a random truck around to diagnose its mechanical issue. Nothing brought more joy to his life than his family. He took great pride in not only teaching his children and grandchild­ren how to drive, shoot guns, but mainly teaching them about the love of Jesus.

He is preceded in death by his mother,

Leona Black; father, James Black; and daughter, Candice Michelle Black.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia of the home; sons, Jeremy Black of Fritch Joshua Black of Amarillo, Caleb Black of Fritch; daughters, Amber Acosta and husband Abraham of Borger, Christi Black of Woodward, Oklahoma; grandchild­ren, Aaron, Alijah, Alejandro, Autumn, Alexi; brothers, Charlie Black of Kansas, Lee Black and wife Niesie of Fritch, Kevin Black and wife Renee of Fritch, Jason Black and wife Misty of Fritch; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
