Phillips 66 donates $250,000 to the American Red Cross in support of wildfire relief efforts in Texas and Oklahoma
HOUSTON – March 1, 2024 – Phillips 66 has announced a donation of $250,000 to the American Red Cross to support the ongoing relief efforts for the devastating wildfires across Texas and Oklahoma. This donation will play a role in providing immediate assistance and support to communities affected by the wildfires.
The wildfires, which have merged to create the largest blaze in Texas history, have resulted in the displacement of thousands of residents and caused widespread destruction. In response, the American Red Cross has been on the front lines, offering shelter, food, and emotional support to those affected, while also supporting emergency personnel battling the fires.
"The generosity of Phillips 66 during this critical time is a testament to their commitment to community welfare and disaster relief," said Tom McCloud, Regional Chief Development Officer,
Texas Gulf Coast Red Cross. "This donation will significantly bolster our efforts to provide relief and support to communities devastated by disasters. We are deeply grateful for Phillips 66's support and partnership in helping us deliver our mission."
The funds from Phillips 66 will be used to support a range of relief activities, including:
Establishing and maintaining shelters for evacuees
Providing meals and essential supplies to those affected
Offering emotional support and health services to individuals and families impacted by the wildfires
Assisting with the long-term recovery efforts of communities across Texas and Oklahoma
"Phillips 66 is committed to supporting the communities where we operate, especially in times of need," said Todd Denton, Senior Vice President of HSE and Field Operations Support. "We are proud to partner with the American Red Cross in their vital work to provide relief to those affected by the wildfires in the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandle. Together, we can help these communities recover and rebuild stronger than before."
Phillips 66 employees from the company’s Borger Refinery, located in the Texas panhandle, have also assisted in the response efforts as volunteer firefighters and as part of the refinery’s fire department.
The American Red Cross and Phillips 66 urge others to join in supporting the relief efforts for the Texas and Oklahoma wildfires. Individuals and organizations interested in contributing can do so by visiting the American Red Cross website or contacting their local Red Cross chapter.
