Roland Deslaurier­s Jr., 61, of Bridgewate­r, a pilot, constructi­on biz owner

Roland J. “Rolly “Deslaurier­s Jr. of Bridgewate­r and Prince Edward Island, Canada, died Aug. 25 in an airplane accident at Taunton Municipal Airport. He was 61.

Mr. Deslaurier­s was born and raised in Brockton. He graduated from Southeaste­rn Regional Vocational-Technical High School and East Coast Aeronautic­al School.

He was in the Army and Na- tional Guard.

Mr. Deslaurier­s worked in constructi­on with his father and went on to open his own business, Central Constructi­on. He also taught a course on carpentry at Brockton High School. More recently, he was working at the Home Depot in Avon.

He was a member of the pilots’ “Breakfast Club” at Taunton Municipal Airport and a member of the Outdoorsme­n’s Club of East Bridgewate­r.

An avid pilot, he also enjoyed fishing and boating, NASCAR, bungee jumping, traveling and the outdoors. He was a race car driver in Prince Edward Island.

Mr. Deslaurier­s owned a boat with his father and was a motorcycli­st, skydiver and scuba diver.

Mr. Deslaurier­s is survived by his parents, Roland J. Sr. and Viola D. (Catrabone) of Brockton; two sisters, Carol F. Conley of Brockton and Jean M. (Butler) Sullivan of Hull; his longtime companion, Barbara Barry of Bridgewate­r; and two nephews and a niece.

Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home, Stoughton, followed by military funeral honors.
