Roland Deslauriers Jr., 61, of Bridgewater, a pilot, construction biz owner
Roland J. “Rolly “Deslauriers Jr. of Bridgewater and Prince Edward Island, Canada, died Aug. 25 in an airplane accident at Taunton Municipal Airport. He was 61.
Mr. Deslauriers was born and raised in Brockton. He graduated from Southeastern Regional Vocational-Technical High School and East Coast Aeronautical School.
He was in the Army and Na- tional Guard.
Mr. Deslauriers worked in construction with his father and went on to open his own business, Central Construction. He also taught a course on carpentry at Brockton High School. More recently, he was working at the Home Depot in Avon.
He was a member of the pilots’ “Breakfast Club” at Taunton Municipal Airport and a member of the Outdoorsmen’s Club of East Bridgewater.
An avid pilot, he also enjoyed fishing and boating, NASCAR, bungee jumping, traveling and the outdoors. He was a race car driver in Prince Edward Island.
Mr. Deslauriers owned a boat with his father and was a motorcyclist, skydiver and scuba diver.
Mr. Deslauriers is survived by his parents, Roland J. Sr. and Viola D. (Catrabone) of Brockton; two sisters, Carol F. Conley of Brockton and Jean M. (Butler) Sullivan of Hull; his longtime companion, Barbara Barry of Bridgewater; and two nephews and a niece.
Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home, Stoughton, followed by military funeral honors.
