Strut into Summer in bright, bold footwear
Evening rooftop party: here’s the place to pull out all the stops. and one of my absolute favorite shoe designers for outstanding, breathtaking creations is Jerome Rousseau — and celebs like Jessica Biel, Rebecca Romijn and scarlett Johansson are fans, too. i’m over the moon about styles like his rockin’ red hewitt design, or his floral platform sandals that turn any girl into a red-carpet-ready goddess. i’m even more excited to invite you to come by my boutique, gretta Luxe (94 Central st., Wellesley) tomorrow from noon to 4 p.m., and meet Jerome in the flesh! Drop in for coffee or champagne, nab 20 percent off his incredible summer styles, and preview his fall 2016 collection — he’ll be signing shoes, to boot.
Officefriendly: sturdy and professional is the way to go here. The sleek fit of Lulu’s Divino high heel sandals is just that: easy to wear (the thick toe strap keeps things comfy), but the three-plus-inch wooden block heel still gives height. They do justice to nearly any outfit (especially in either cognac or black), from a light summer suit to a tailored floral a-line dress. Bonus: They’ll set you back less than $40 at www.lulus. com, and are made of all vegan-friendly, man-made materials.
Summer’s unofficially here, and the doors are open to a new world of wardrobe choices — especially for your feet. Forget gray-toned, practical, closedtoe numbers meant to protect our tootsies from the elements. This is a season to celebrate stepping outdoors — with brighter-than-bright brights, gutsy styles and playful patterns. Consider these as you step into summer: Daytime pool shindig: Don’t let the less formal daytime vibe cramp your style. some sandals are nothing less than perfect for both height and casual cool. Just one example: Ugg’s Jules platform wedges ($149 at Nordstrom). at five inches plus a one-anda-half-inch platform, they hover above pretty much everyone else, yet still stay neutral (literally) in demure, braided jute and crisscrossing wrap laces. At the beach: Walking on sand doesn’t leave a lot of wiggle room for tootall heels, but that doesn’t mean sacrificing drama. To me, sunny days always call for a shot of real color. That’s where hot-hued flip-flops come in. i love the current designs such as Kenneth Cole Reaction’s faux wooden platform (less than $100 at macy’s right now) in an oh-so-cool, boho-chic perforated upper.
