Richard Bachman, 81, of East Bridgewater, formerly an attorney
Richard E. (Dick) Bachman of East Bridgewatwer and Naples, Fla. died Wednesday. He was 81.
Mr. Bachman was raised in Braintree.
He was a graduate of Braintree High School, Providence College and Boston College Law School.
He opened a law practice in Whitman after graduating from law school.
Mr. Bachman joined the Attorney General’s Office in Boston in 1963.
He was appointed assistant attorney general months later.
Mr. Bachman worked for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in 1969.
He practiced corporate and criminal law with Hale, Sanderson, Byrnes and Morton in 1978 until retiring in 2002.
He was a member of the East Bridgewater Kiwanis, former chairman of the East Bridgewater Savings Bank’s board of trustees and past chairman of the East Bridgewater Zoning Board of Appeals.
Mr. Bachman enjoyed golfing, watercolor painting and traveling with his wife and friends to Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico and Hawaii.
Husband of the late Elaine (Hennessey), he is survived by two sons, Mark R. of Plymouth and Paul R. of Scituate; two daughters, Amy Ursillo of Hope, R.I., and Julie of Lake Tahoe, Nev.; four grandchildren; and many nices and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Church, East Bridgewater.
Burial will be in Milton Cemetery, Milton.
