Marlins win at Fort Bragg

J.T. Realmuto homered and drove in two runs, Adam Conley pitched six strong innings and the Miami Marlins beat the Atlanta Braves, 5-2, last night in Fort Bragg, N.C., in the first profession­al game in any sport played on an active military installati­on.

Christian Yelich also finished with two RBI in the National League contest. Yelich and Realmuto had run-scoring singles during a two-run fifth.

Conley (5-5) allowed four hits. In Miami’s previous five games, each starter allowed at least four earned runs and none finished the sixth.

Braves starter Matt Wisler (3-8) allowed three earned runs in six-plus innings.

Mets 14, Cubs 3 — Wilmer Flores went 6-for-6 with two of his team’s five home runs, with Curtis Granderson, Rene Rivera and Kelly Johnson also hitting blasts in support of Noah Syndergaar­d (9-3), and New York romped to a four-game sweep of Chicago by battering Jon Lester (9-4).

Nationals 12, Reds 1 — Stephen Strasburg (11-0) was removed from a no-hit bid in his return from the disabled list, and host Washington routed Cincinnati behind two homers from Danny Espinosa, including a grand slam, and solos by Wilson Ramos, Bryce Harper and Anthony Rendon.

Dodgers 4, Rockies 1 — Brandon McCarthy (1-0) won in his return from Tommy John surgery, and Trace Thompson and Yasmani Grandal homered, as host Los Angeles completed a sweep of Colorado.

Giants 5, Diamondbac­ks 4— In Phoenix, pinch-hitter Ramiro Pena doubled in a run in the 11th inning and San Francisco beat Arizona, which tied it in the eighth on a Jake Lamb homer.

Cardinals 9, Brewers 8 — Stephen Piscotty’s second career grand slam and an Aledmys Diaz homer propelled host St. Louis to a rain-soaked, sweep-clinching win against Milwaukee.

American League

Mariners 9, Orioles 4 — Seth Smith homered for the fourth straight game, this time a grand slam, and Hisashi Iwakuma (8-6) managed to win despite allowing four runs on 10 hits in six-plus innings, as host Seattle blew past Baltimore for a four-game series sweep.

Blue Jays 17, Indians 1 — Troy Tulowitzki homered among his three hits, Russell Martin homered and drove in five runs, and Justin Smoak also went deep as host Toronto routed Cleveland, which lost its second straight following a 14-game winning streak.

Tigers 5, Rays 1 — In St. Petersburg, Fla., Justin Upton snapped an eighth-inning tie with a two-run double and Ian Kinsler added a homer, leading Detroit to a sixth straight win, against Tampa Bay.

Twins 5, Rangers 4 — In Minneapoli­s, Brian Dozier drove in two runs and scored a pair, and Minnesota knocked out Cole Hamels (9-2) early for a second straight win against Texas.

White Sox 4, Astros 1 — Jose Quintana (6-8) went seven innings to get his first win in almost two months, and Jose Abreu had two hits and an RBI as Chicago beat host Houston.

Yankees 6, Padres 3 — Mark Teixeira hit his 400th and 401st home runs, Didi Gregorius also connected and Chad Green (1-1) got his first career win as New York doubled up host San Diego.

Pirates 6, Athletics 3 — Adam Frazier tripled in the tying run in the sixth inning, then scored on an infield single, and David Freese homered to help visiting Pittsburgh beat Oakland.

Phillies 7, Royals 2 — Cameron Rupp, Cody Asche and Maikel Franco all hit homers to back Vince Velasquez (7-2), and Philadelph­ia knocked off visiting Kansas City.
