Tribe continue to own Tigers

Lonnie Chisenhall was 4-for-5 with three RBI, Carlos Santana and Tyler Naquin homered, and the Indians remained perfect in 11 games against the Detroit Tigers this season with a 12-1 victory in American League play last night in Cleveland.

The Indians have outscored the Tigers, 76-24, in the season series. Cleveland leads Detroit by 71⁄ games in 2 the AL Central.

Carlos Carrasco (5-2) allowed one run in six innings for Cleveland, which has won 13 straight at home.

Losing pitcher Anibal Sanchez (5-9) allowed seven runs in 41⁄ innings. 3

Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera was ejected in the sixth after grounding out. Cabrera, thinking the ball hit off his leg, never left the batter’s box and was called out at first. When the umpires didn’t reverse the call, he argued and was tossed.

The Tigers placed starter Daniel Norris (oblique) on the 15-day disabled list. On Monday, Jordan Zimmermann (neck) went on the DL.

Blue Jays 8, Royals 3 — Josh Donaldson hit two solo home runs, including the front end of a back-to-back with Ezequiel Carrera, Troy Tulowitzki had a three-run blast in support of R.A. Dickey (6-9), helping Toronto knock off visiting Kansas City, which placed closer Wade Davis (forearm) on the 15-day DL.

Chris Young (2-8) matched Runelvys Hernandez’ Royals record by allowing at least one home run in 13 consecutiv­e starts. Young (2-8) has surrendere­d a majors-worst 26 homers this season.

Angels 13, Rays 5 — In St. Petersburg, Fla., C.J. Cron homered twice and drove in four runs, and Los Angeles overcame another shaky start by Tim Lincecum to beat Tampa Bay for just its third win in 15 games.

Angels starter C.J. Wilson, out since elbow surgery last August, now needs a shoulder operation.

Yankees 9, White Sox 0 — Chase Headley hit a two-run homer for the second straight day, New York had a seasonhigh 20 hits and Masahiro Tanaka (6-2) pitched into the eighth inning in a shutout of host Chicago.

Astros 5, Mariners 2 — Luis Valbuena hit a solo homer and Colby Rasmus and A.J. Reed added two-run shots in the fourth inning, backing Dallas Keuchel (6-9), as host Houston topped Seattle.

National League

Reds 9, Cubs 5 — John Lackey (7-5) took the loss, manager Joe Maddon was ejected and Chicago, which has dropped 5-of-6 and 10-of15, was beaten by Cincinnati, whose Brandon Finnegan (47) won despite giving up four home runs and was backed by long balls from Zack Cozart and Jay Bruce.

Addison Russell homered twice for the Cubs. Kris Bryant (No. 25) and Javier Baez also went deep.

Phillies 5, Braves 1 — Maikel Franco homered for the third straight game, Peter Bourjos, Cody Asche and Tommy Joseph also hit solo shots and host Philadelph­ia got a complete game from Zach Eflin (1-2) to beat Atlanta, whose Julio Teheran will tonight’s start due to an infection in his right thigh.

Marlins 5, Mets 2— Giancarlo Stanton homered twice and had five RBI, helping Wei-Yin Chen (5-3) and visiting Miami end a fivegame winning streak by New York, which had Jose Reyes (0-for-4) in the lineup for the first time.

Brewers 5, Nationals 2 — Hernan Perez hit a tiebreakin home run, and Aaron Hill was 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI to help Zach Davies (6-4) and visiting Milwaukee beat Washington.

Pirates 5, Cardinals 2 — Eric Fryer, picked up off waivers Sunday from St. Louis, burned his former team with two hits and three RBI as visiting Pittsburgh prevailed.

Diamondbac­ks 7, Padres 5— Rickie Weeks Jr. hit a three-run homer, Paul Goldschmid­t had two RBI after being named to his fourth straight NL All-Star team and Arizona beat San Diego in Phoenix.
