Wentz guides Eagles

Carson Wentz followed up an impressive NFL debut with another solid performanc­e, throwing for 190 yards and a touchdown, and the Philadelph­ia Eagles beat the Bears, 29-14, last night in Chicago.

Wentz showed plenty NFL of poise, just as he did in his debut against Cleveland. The No. 2 overall draft pick completed 21-of-34 passes without an intercepti­on despite absorbing several big hits.

Ryan Mathews ran for two scores, and the Eagles (2-0) scored a pair of touchdowns late in the third quarter to break open a two-point game.

Chicago quarterbac­k Jay Cutler left with a right hand injury in the third quarter and did not return, and the Bears (0-2) fell again after opening with a loss at Houston.

Cutler completed 12-of 17 passes for 157 yards. Brian Hoyer took over and was 9-of-12 for 78 yards.

Peterson tears meniscus

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has a torn meniscus in his right knee, coach

Mike Zimmer said. Zimmer has not yet ruled out Peterson for Sunday’s game against Carolina.

Peterson, the 2012 NFL MVP, was injured Sunday in Minnesota’s 17-14 victory over the Green Bay Packers on a 5-yard run, his longest of the night.

A torn meniscus often calls for several weeks of rehab before a player is ready to take the field again. Peterson has rushed for just 50 yards on 31 carries in the first two weeks. . . . Denver linebacker DeMarcus

Carroll, Seahawks fined

Seattle coach Pete Carroll was fined $200,000, the Seahawks were fined $400,000 and will lose a 2017 fifth-round draft choice for violating the NFL’s work rules on contact in the offseason. The Seahawks will also lose a week of organized team activities for allowing excessive contact in an OTA on June 6. . . .

The Detroit Lions released suspended tight end Andrew Quarless before he played a game for them. Detroit signed Quarless in August, but he was suspended the first two games of the season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
