KAREN GUREGIAN’S NFL POWER RANKINGS

-

1. Patriots (3-0): They still win with the backup to Tom Brady, and the backup to the backup for Brady. Welcome to Roger Goodell's worst nightmare.

2. Steelers (2-0): Can't say they've missed Le'Veon Bell when backup DeAngelo Williams led the NFL in rushing after two games.

3. Broncos (2-0): Von Miller got the ring, got the money, and, with four sacks in two games, he's still terrorizing quarterbacks.

4. Cardinals (1-1): After being upset at home by the Brady-less Pats, used the Bucs as punching bags to help take out their frustration.

5. Panthers (1-1): They still don't look quite like the NFC champions from last year, but they're getting there.

6. Vikings (2-0): GM Rick Spielman quickly found another quarterback after Teddy Bridgewater went down. But where does he find another Adrian Peterson?

7. Packers (1-1): Did someone kidnap Aaron Rodgers? It's only two games, but Rodgers with the league's 29th-ranked offense? Does not compute.

8. Texans (2-1): Can't be too happy when your $72 million man gets beaten by a thirdstring rookie quarterback. Ouch!

9. Seahawks (1-1): Defense is great, but you're not going anywhere scoring one touchdown in two games.

10. Ravens (2-0): Decided to spice things up for Joe Flacco and the offense by spotting the Browns 20 points.

11. Chiefs (1-1): Will the return of running back Jamaal Charles in the next few weeks give them the kick in the pants they need? Stay tuned.

12. Bengals (1-1): The red zone has not been their friend. They have to do better than scoring once in six attempts.

13. Giants (2-0): They were a disaster in close games last year, six of their 10 losses coming by four points or fewer. This year, not so much.

14. Jets (1-1): Todd Bowles can't be happy that his secondary already has big play-itis, allowing four 50-plus yard pass plays this season.

15. Eagles (2-0): Thus far, first-year head coach Doug Pederson is pushing all the right buttons for rookie quarterback Carson Wentz.

16. Raiders (1-1): Sixty-nine points allowed in two games? And they thought they fixed that defense?

17. Cowboys (1-1): Finally, some proof they can win without Tony Romo. There's a first time for everything.

18. Falcons (1-1): They're hoping the team that showed up Week 2 is closer to who they are, as opposed to whoever showed up Week 1.

19. Chargers (1-1): The injuries may be piling up around him, but Philip Rivers keeps rolling.

20. Lions (1-1): Defense has allowed the go-ahead score in the final 90 seconds of each game thus far. Not a recipe for success.

21. Bucs (1-1): Four touchdown passes Week 1, four interceptions Week 2. Will the hat trick for Jameis Winston be four fumbles Week 3?

22. Titans (1-1): Definition of clutch? Marcus Mariota leads the NFL with a 131.8 passer rating in the fourth quarter.

23. Jaguars (0-2): Owner Shad Khan said a winning record in 2016 is “everybody's reasonable expectation.” Guess the players didn't get the memo.

24. Colts (0-2): If they're waiting for Andrew Luck to bail them out, it's going to be a long wait given all the ineptness around him.

25. Dolphins (0-2): Let's see if Ryan Tannehill can play well when the pressure's on and the game's not out of reach.

26. Redskins (0-2): Kirk Cousins didn't throw a single pick in the red zone last year. Now, he's got two. Not the kind of trend you're looking for.

27. Saints (0-2): For a change, the defense played well. But in another switch, the offense played like dog-doo.

28. 49ers (1-1): They've been competitive, and then some, which is a credit to Chip Kelly given what he's working with.

29. Bears (0-2): John Fox took his previous two teams to the Super Bowl in his second season. By the looks of it, he'll need a miracle to make it three.

30. Rams (1-1): They haven't scored a touchdown yet this season, but they do have Seattle's number. That's something to hang their hat on.

31. Bills (0-2): Maybe new play-caller Anthony Lynn will make the Pegula family and Rex Ryan happier with the offense. But can he fix the defense, too?

32. Browns (0-2): Trading out from the No. 2 pick to avoid drafting Carson Wentz is looking more and more like a bonehead move as they get ready to start their third quarterback.
