Bulls stay perfect in win at Nets

-

Jimmy Butler scored 22 points, Dwyane Wade had 12 in the first road game of his career not played for Miami, and the Chicago Bulls improved to 3-0 by beating the Brooklyn Nets, 118-88, last night in New York.

The Bulls had seven players in double figures, with Wade becoming the last of them when he left Bojan Bogdanovic behind with a crossover and was fouled on a drive to the basket in the fourth quarter.

Nikola Mirotic had 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Taj Gibson added 14 points and 11 boards for the Bulls, who visit the Celtics at the Garden on Wednesday.

After home victories against Eastern Conference playoff teams — the Celtics and the Indiana Pacers — to open the season, the Bulls easily handled their road opener, leading by as many as 33 points.

Bogdanovic scored 15 points and Jeremy Lin had 14 for the Nets, who fell to 1-3.

Raptors 105, Nuggets 102 — DeMar DeRozan had 33 points and Kyle Lowry made a couple key baskets late to finish with 29 points, helping host Toronto beat Denver.

Danilo Gallinari, Will Barton and Emmanuel Mudiay each had 16 points for Denver, and Jusuf Nurkic added 13 points and a career-high 18 rebounds.

Hawks 106, Kings 95 — Dwight Howard had 18 points, Kyle Korver and Dennis Schroder scored 17 points apiece, and Atlanta beat visiting Sacramento for its first 3-0 start in five seasons.

Every Atlanta starter scored in double figures, and the Hawks held Sacramento’s DeMarcus Cousins in check after he averaged 30 points in the Kings’ first three games. He finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Clippers 116, Suns 98 — Chris Paul had 24 points and eight assists and host Los Angeles won its third straight to start the season, rolling past winless Phoenix.

Elsewhere in the NBA — The Oklahoma City Thunder reportedly have agreed to terms with Steven Adams and Victor Oladipo on four-year contract extensions. Adams is finalizing a deal worth $100 million and Oladipo is getting $84 million. They come with hours to spare before last night’s midnight Eastern deadline. Getting deals done now ensures neither player will get to restricted free agency next summer and redefines a core around Russell Westbrook now that Kevin Durant is in Golden State. . . .

A person with knowledge of the deal says the Utah Jazz and Rudy Gobert have agreed to terms on a contract extension. The Vertical first reported the deal and said it was worth $102 million over four years. . . .

The Minnesota Timberwolves agreed to terms with big man Gorgui Dieng on a four-year contract extension reportedly worth $64 million. . . .

A person familiar with the deal says Cody Zeller has agreed to a four-year, $56 million contract extension with the Charlotte Hornets. . . .

The NBA moved up the start time for tonight’s Cleveland Cavaliers game because of the World Series. The game against Houston at Quicken Loans Arena will now begin an hour earlier at 6 p.m. The NBA champions requested the change to avoid an extended overlap with Game 6 of the World Series, which starts at 8:08 p.m. at neighboring Progressive Field.
