Break out your bell-bottoms for Biggest Disco gala

- — erica.corsano@bostonherald.com

Dancing is often an afterthought at charity events — something to do after the speeches are given and the last bit of rubber chicken has been chewed.

But we love any chance to dance, especially for a good cause, which is why the first annual Boston's Biggest Disco is such a standout. The beat drops on this throwback dance party of epic proportions on Nov. 26, when you get a chance to bust out your most fabulous pair of platforms and boogie down at Club Royale in Boston's Theatre District.

And it's not just about reviving the Funky Chicken — you'll be raising funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The DJ is set to spin all the favorites from the '70s, and nostalgic videos will bring you back in time to the decade that gave us “Saturday Night Fever,” the Hustle and flared denim.

There will also be special guests performing, including Rod Stewart and Donna Summers tribute bands.

If you want to make a staycation out of the groovy experience, the W Boston hotel is offering special rates for event participants. Just use the room block name “The Boston's Biggest Disco LLC” when booking.

You can go the cheesy costume route (butterfly collars and synthetic shirts, the shinier the better) or keep it chic with this season's updated takes on '70s fashion — just come to party.

Tickets start at $75, with all proceeds to benefit the Jimmy Fund to support patient care and cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Buy them at www.bostonsbiggestdisco.com.
