Plenty of options available when updating kitchens

- This report provided by Kitchen Options Inc. By RAY LENTINE PRESIDENT, KITCHEN OPTIONS INC.

“Kitchens cost how much?”

The most expensive room in a home is the kitchen. Because of that fact, homeowners have a hard time making the decision to update this expensive room. A university study completed in 2008 showed that it takes, on average, seven years between the time a couple first talks about making major changes in the home and the time they actually do something about it. If the change cost just a few dollars, then seven years would probably be seven days.

I have been in the kitchen business for many years. I have supervised the sale and installation of more than 7,200 kitchens. Nothing means more to homeowners than their kitchen. After all, it is where you eat, have important conversations with family and, inevitably, the place guests gather.

The price to update a kitchen is an enigma. Many years ago, when I was deciding on the name of my company, I knew that the name had to tell potential customers what it was the company actually did. I came up with the name Kitchen Options, so potential customers would know that whatever they wanted we could accomplish. No matter what “option” they wanted, we could not only make it happen, but put a price to the project.

Ripping out a kitchen and putting in a new kitchen can be very expensive. The variable is what option is chosen. If homeowners just want the old cabinets taken out and new cabinets put in the same place, then that price would be far less expensive than if they want to rip everything down to studs and start over. Where customers are ripped off is when contractors charge more to install expensive cabinets. It takes the same amount of time and the same cost of labor to put in cheap cabinets as it does to install top of the line.

Kitchen Options can rip out your kitchen and design a beautiful kitchen. Our logo is, “We gut kitchens and bathrooms: GOT A GUT?” But Kitchen Options is also the largest refacing company in the Northeast.

What is refacing? We use your box — everything else is thrown away. Because we use your box, which stays on the wall, you save thousands of dollars. We install new doors (many colors and wood grains); all of the drawers are replaced with hardrock maple dovetail corners, and both the drawers and the doors are equipped with softclose glides and hinges. A new granite, quartz or laminate counter is installed — all with new sinks and faucets. You say you want to install appliances, add or subtract cabinets — no problem.

Kitchen Options refacing saves you money, but if you want to start over with a new kitchen … We have a saying in our office, “We will take as much money from the customer as they want to give us.” No matter what you want, no matter what options you are looking to subtract from or add to your kitchen or bathroom(s), Kitchen Options should be your first option. Our sales representatives go to your home with one thought in their minds: “How do I save this customer money?” Your kitchen is our showroom. I hope you invite us there to give you a free presentation and estimate.
