Goydos, Langer collect

Paul Goydos and Bernhard Langer got the big trophies and checks yesterday in the PGA Tour Champions’ season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championsh­ip in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Goydos completed a wire-towire victory in the tournament, and Langer finished second to win his third straight season points title and fourth overall.

Goydos shot a 4-under 66 to finish at 15-under 195 on Desert Mountain’s Cochise Course to earn $440,000. Langer had a final-round 64 to lock up the $1 million annuity as the Charles Schwab Cup season champion. . . .

Pat Perez closed with a 4-under 67 for a 2-stroke victory in the OHL Classic at Mayakoba in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, in his third start since returning from shoulder surgery.

Third-round leader Gary Woodland was second at 21-under 263, birdieing the final two holes for a 70. Russell Knox was third at 18-under after a 66. . . .

Carlota Ciganda rallied to win the Citibaname­x Lorena Ochoa Invitation­al in Mexico City for her second LPGA Tour victory in four starts.

The 26-year-old Spaniard shot a 4-under 68 at Club de Golf Mexico for a 2-stroke victory over six players. Third-round leader Austin Ernst had a 71 to drop into a tie for second with Angela Stanford (69), Jodi Ewart Shadoff (67), Karine Icher (69) and Sarah Jane Smith (70). . . .

Alex Noren rallied to win the Nedbank Golf Challenge in Sun City, South Africa, rebounding from a third-round 75 with a 63 for a 6-stroke victory for his fourth win on the European Tour this season. Third-round leader Jeunghun Wang had a 75 to finish second.

Gurriel signs with Jays

Lourdes Gurriel Jr., the younger brother of Houston Astros infielder Yulieski Gurriel, agreed to a $22 million, seven-year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.

According to the Blue Jays, the 23-year-old — primarily a shortstop and center fielder — hit .344 with 17 doubles, 10 homers and 59 games in 2015, the last of his six seasons in Cuba’s Serie Nacional. . . .

Chris Heisey agreed to $1.4 million, one-year deal to return to the Washington Nationals, according to his agent. A favorite of Nationals manager Dusty Baker, Heisey hit nine home runs in spot and pinch-hitting duties during the 2016 regular season.

Misc.: Top 25 shakeup

Ohio State and Louisville moved up behind No. 1 Alabama in The Associated Press college football poll after the most surprising Saturday of the season gave the rankings a major makeover.

Alabama was the unanimous No. 1 for the first time this season, receiving all 61 votes. Ohio State is No. 2, a season best for the Buckeyes, and Louisville is No. 3, matching its best ranking ever.

No. 4 Michigan and No. 5 Clemson each dropped two spots and No. 7 Washington fell three after losing for the first time. . ..

Novak Djokovic rallied to beat Dominic Thiem 6-7 (10), 6-0, 6-2 in his opening match at the season-ending ATP finals in London.

In the late match, fourth-seeded Milos Raonic beat sixth-seeded Gael Monfils 6-3, 6-4. . . .

The Czech Republic retained its Fed Cup title after Barbora Strycova and Karolina Pliskova defeated France’s Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic 7-5, 7-5 to secure a 3-2 win in Strasbourg, France. . . .

Three-time series champion Lewis Hamilton won the rain-delayed Brazilian Grand Prix in Sao Paulo, forcing a showdown for the driver’s season title with Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg in Abu Dhabi in the finale in two weeks.

Rosberg has a 12-point lead, meaning even if Hamilton wins the last race, Rosberg can claim his first season title by just finishing second or third. . . .

Austria’s Marcel Hirscher overcame an illness on the eve of the slalom opener to lead teammate Michael Matt to an Austrian 1-2 finish in Levi, Finland, and move back atop the men’s World Cup overall ski standings.
