Make Bay State Tech part of your game plan for success

- Bay State School of Technology, 225 Turnpike St. (Route 138), Canton, MA 02021. This report provided by Bay State School of Technology.

Bill Belichick — love him or hate him, you have to respect his vision, drive and dedication to winning. Why does he win so many games? He has a plan — a game plan. He defines a goal and analyzes what tools he has, what things he needs to do, and visualizes how to attain that goal.

Choosing a new career is a lot like crafting an NFL game plan. You have to have a clear idea of what you want — your goal. Then you need to figure out what tools you’ll need — your skills — and determine how you’ll get those tools — choosing your school.

You should look for a field that is stable, first of all. You don’t want to spend your money for a career where you can’t find work. Look for one that’s well-paying. After all, you do need to support yourself and your family. You should also seek a career that is challenging and that you will enjoy. The challenging part keeps you interested and the enjoyment part keeps you motivated. In addition, we’ve used the same entrance exam for more than 30 years, and it will tell us if you are suited for the course you want.

Choosing a school can be confusing. It may seem like all schools promise you a new career, but make sure the school can deliver. Ask about their history and their completion and placement percentages, and then compare this information with other schools. Think about whether you did better in bigger or smaller classes, and whether smaller is right for you.

Bay State School of Technology has been training students since 1982, so we have the “history” part nailed down tight. Our overall completion and placement rates are top notch and as good as anybody in the field. Because we are a relatively small school, our classes tend to be smaller as well. This guarantees a much more intimate teacher/student ratio, which translates to more time with the instructors and a better understanding of your material. Our hands-on training has been proven over and over again to be the absolute best way to learn how to become a technician.

In addition, you’ll receive a brand-new tablet to use while you learn the other tools of the trade. And there is no prior experience required.

In our Major Appliance/ Basic Electricity course, you’ll learn about electricity and how it works; you’ll learn to read a wiring diagram and use it to diagnose problems. You will work on real washers, dryers, dishwashers, microwave ovens and more.

Bay State’s Domestic Refrigeration & Air Conditioning course covers the basics of refrigeration theory in terms of home refrigerators and air conditioners. You will learn about all the major components of a refrigerator and actually put them together to make your own fully functional unit from scratch. In addition, we will prepare you for EPA 608 and PSA on-site testing and certification.

Commercial HVACR will immerse you in the basics of larger refrigeration and cooling units, ductless split systems, electronic controls, ice machines, heat pumps and more. This program prepares you to work in the commercial side of the industry and provides 100 hours of Massachusetts Refrigeration Code and 150 hours of Massachusetts Electrical Codes.

Our Electronics Technician course features instruction in electricity, elementary electronics, digital and analog theory, microprocessors, personal computers and networking, wireless communications, renewable energy and more. Plus we’ll prep you for and administer the ISCET Certification test.

Your Bay State Tech training will teach you how to go from having a job to having a career. We can teach you to have a productive and rewarding life working as a technician in the HVACR, major appliance, refrigeration or electronics fields. You can be confident you will receive the best career training in the Boston area. In fact, Bay State was recently named one of the top 15 Refrigeration Technician Training Programs in the country by the HVAC Classes blog.
